First we made a iislearning portfolio. This is about that what I learned and learning in every single classes. Also, I talked about goals that I want to make for the year. Furthermore, our class made our own wordpress blog. This was my first time to make my own blog and it was impressed. I made my own custom header for my blog and post some articles, videos. and podcst. This podcast was first time to record my voice and post on my blog. At first, I record with Michael who is my friend in group. After that, I record by myself. It was interesting and I will try to do Vodcasts, too. Moreover, I just learned about the RSS which stand for Really Simple Syndication. This RSS program is new and easy way. However, there are old way, too which is that I need to visit every blog to check the new news. However, if I get RSS feeds the blog update news will show to me. Which mean I can save my time and use it more useful. This was fun.

RE-View Last week's Assignment was to:

Download OpenOffice, Firefox, Google Sketch-up and any other programs shown there of your choice. Bookmark a few useful sites for example: "Babelfish"
Make a short report in OpenOffice add this attachment to a page in your wiki and then post a link in the Grade 7 IIS wiki.

This week:
1) As mentioned last --week- Be sure to check the Grade matix and make sure you completed ALL assignets --including logs in orerto get the best grad possbile this eport card!

2) Log in to "Learn2type.com" Warm up with 3 ex.'s and a couple of games. Take the typing speed test --log it in you usual palces --your desktop folder and your wiki.

3) If you've not done it already --download Google Earth here in class. Explore some of the tools as shown in class.... Now find Indianhead School then see if you can find your home! Take a screenshot of both and post to your wikiphoto gallery page.

***Looking Forward--> This quarter we will begin with a collaboarative unit --IT and Social Studies. You will do joint projects with myself and Mr. Lehman. Good news --you will recieve credit in both classes for the work you do. But first we will familiarize ourselves with some tools for going geography --such as Google Earth.

Share & Share Alike! As you know we have been working with Wikis. These again are Web 2.0 technolgies which are very much about sharing. This week we'll visit each others wiki sites and leave at last one comment or suggestion. Then, in keeping with this theme we'll also look at some useful sites and programs that are availiable in the "public domain" --so they are free for public use. We'll download some of these programs to help with our prductvity in class and elsewhere.

As you may have noticed it has already reduced your grade standing.To see a chart of what assignments have been given click here. As I said last WEEK it is UP to YOU --to stay up to date with this work so PLEASE LOOK AT THE INVENTORY CLOSELY and ask YOUSELF--> Have I completed EVERYTHING??? & By the WAY-->Due this week: "photo albums" pages. Remeber to create these in your wiki and then post a link to you page in the grae 7 wiki. EXTRA CREDIT for personal photos.

This coming week's assignments:

Adding multi-media or "widgets" to your wiki. You will need to:
1) look at the "widget" button on your tool bar.

2) Add a "multi-media" gallery page to your wiki
3) Sign up for an account at a free music or video site for example: www.youtube.com
4) select a music clip or a video clip.
5) Add it you your new "multimedia" page on you wiki.
6) Make a link to this under the Grade 7 "multimedia gallery" page. FINALLY: If you are still strugiling in this class --confused, not sure how to do things etc. PLEASE make an ppointment for extra help with me before it's the end of the quartet and too late... ~Mr.Sean

As explained in class to achieve grade 7 skill proficient in applications we need to be familiar with and able to use word processing tools.We can do this by either taking traditional tests or by applying the skills to create a project. This time around we'll be creating illustrated story projects to demonstrate our abilities.
So to create the Holiday Stories we'll use MS Word, OpenOffice Writer. To do the illustrations we;ll use Paint, and OO Draw. The stores will feature the holiday themes of Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, or New Years. They should be a minimum of 3 pages long with no maximum length. There must be with an illustration on each page. It must contain a well formatted title page and show the following formatting features:

different font sizes
different font styles
different font colors
spell checking, grammer and thesaurus tools
borders and shading
page numbering

balanced margins, headers and footer
word art and other graphic/photo insertion
basic drawings --created by program.

You'll need to help add printers and copy over any vital files to yuor new desktop.

This week we MUST finish up holiday stories. Your 6 page draft was actually due last week. If you've not submitted it yet then you've already lost credit. Get it in TODAY. More on this in class.

General instructions:
To create the Holiday Stories we'll use MS Word, OpenOffice Writer. To do the illustrations we'll use Paint, and OO Draw, and adobe. The stores will feature the holiday themes of Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas, or New Years. They should be a minimum of 6 pages long with no maximum length.
